Temporary Work Engineering
Lead by Partner Tim Bellamy, the practice has undertaken the design, coordination and on site supervision of major temporary works engineering solutions for a number of retail, residential and hotel construction projects throughout the South East and Central London.
Projects include the £210m re-development of the Savoy Hotel in Central London, where a six storey temporary steel frame was constructed within the Riverside part of the hotel to facilitate the removal of the original rear façade to allow each of the guest rooms to be re-configured. Controlled load jacking was included in the design to pre-load the temporary structure and minimise the potential for structural movement within the deep roof girders during demolition. The sequencing and control of the jacking process was overseen by BWP.
Façade retention temporary works design has been undertaken for a number of clients including the recently completed Beaumont Hotel in Mayfair, where the art deco façade facing Balderton Street was restrained laterally and supported vertically whilst the existing structure was demolished and a new single / two story basement was constructed.
