PROJECT CIVIL ENGINEER - PERMANENT POSITION (2-5 YEARS POST GRADUATE)

BWP have an excellent opportunity for a new Civil Engineer to join the technical team.  We are looking for a highly motivated Civil Engineer with excellent communication skills to join the design team and support the delivery of projects. 

The role would suit an Engineer with 2-5 years of relevant post graduate experience looking to progress their career to IEng or CEng level and looking to increase their responsibility as their role develops.  Our office has a professional and friendly environment to welcome and support a new candidate.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver road and drainage schemes for commercial, retail, residential and industrial developments including SUDS features and roads to adoptable standards.
  • Liaison with statutory bodies such as Southern Water & Thames Water to progress Section 102, 104 and 106 agreements.
  • Liaise with Highway authorities to progress Section 38 and 278 applications through to completion.
  • To attend design and site meetings / inspections.
  • Liaise with design team members, colleagues and any other professionals to communicate information on matters relating to your work.
  • Write technical reports for submission to relevant Authorities i.e. SUDS, FRA, drainage.
  • Collaborate with the Client and the wider design team across other disciplines to coordinate the design.
  • Ensure all project documentation is produced in accordance with company quality management standards.
  • Maintain own personal development and training needs, being proactive to arrange CPD events and seminars for personal benefit and that of others.

    Attributes:

    • Ideally the candidate will have an accredited degree in Civil Engineering
    • Hold a full UK driving licence to be able to attend site visits, design meetings and carry out site inspections.
    • Previous experience using Microsoft Office and other design software packages such as AutoCAD, Microdrainage, PDS, Civil 3D, Causeway Flow, etc. is essential.
    • Has the ability to carry out the design of road and drainage schemes independently with limited supervision.
    • Experience in producing level strategy / cut and fill exercises, including Isopachyte drawings, is an advantage.
